CTIA WIRELESS 2008 to revolutionize wireless

LAS VEGAS, USA: CTIA WIRELESS 2008, the largest wireless show in the world will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre from April 1-3 2008. Over 1,200 companies on 400,000sqm will represent all technology platforms in the telecommunication industry, such as wireless and converged communications, Internet, computing and mobile data.

More than 40,000 visitors are likely to attend CTIA WIRELESS representing more than 120 different countries and fifteen different industries, from IT, entertainment, healthcare and financial services. BusinessWeek Research Services and Accenture confirmed the significance of wireless technology for the various markets: "82 percent of CIOs surveyed from mid-size to large companies think wireless is important to critically important to their overall IT strategy."

Highlights of the fair include special features such as the Emerging Technology Awards with multiple categories in software and hardware, the fashion show Fashion in Motion where High-Tech meets High Fashion, various educational sessions like MOBILE BLUEPRINT, MOBILE CUSTOMERIZATION or STATE & FEDERAL POLICY.

Students are encouraged to submit their designs of either existing or prototype products, to be judged by leaders from the technology and fashion industries. The $10,000 scholarship is awarded to a student or class project that combines wireless technology and fashion to produce a vision of the future in wearable wireless communication technology. Entries will be judged on the following criteria: innovation and creativity; viability; applicability to culture and lifestyle; and fashion and style. There are also many specialized seminars such as the Smartphone Summit, Mobile Entertainment Live! and Marketing - The Mobile Channel.

Another special feature is the Mobile Entertainment eXpo (MEX), which presents the newest inventions in mobile entertainment services, consumer end products and accessories. The Tower Technology Summit which is a show within the show is designed especially for companies that focus on cell site, in-building and network infrastructure.

A sporty kick off is the CTIA Golf Championship on March 31 at the Bali Hai Golf Club and on April 2, the 15th Annual CTIA Wireless Gala at the Grail Theatre commences with a reception and a dinner followed by Monty Python's "SPAMALOT".
