MUMBAI, INDIA: Yahoo! India, today announced the appointment of Gopal Krishna as head of Audience, responsible for all consumer-facing products in the region.
Krishna will be responsible for all flagship Yahoo! India products including Communities and Communications, Media and Entertainment, Front Doors, Yahoo! India Search among others.
His responsibilities will also include marketing and business development for Yahoo! India.
He will focus on establishing building blocks aligned with the corporate strategy to provide compelling experiences for users and make Yahoo! the starting point for consumers by providing the most relevant content and services.
Based in Bangalore, he will report to Keith Nilsson, managing director - International Emerging Markets, Yahoo!, Inc.
Earlier Krishna set up a seed-stage venture capital fund focused on Internet and Mobile startups in India.
He was also the founder, chairman and CEO of thinkIndia, Inc., a venture-backed Silicon Valley new media start-up that merged with Rediff.com.
He co-founded FlatIron Information Services with a VC firm. He also worked with McKinsey & Company and Schlumberger.
Gopal holds a MBA from the Harvard Business School, an MS (Electrical Engineering) from University of Hawaii at Manoa and B.Tech (Electronics Engineering) from Institute of Technology, India.
